Baptism, Marriage & Burial Transcriptions

Transcribing is continuing for all Plympton St. Maurice Parish information available for baptisms, marriages and burials, from records obtained from the Devon County Council.  Lookups for baptisms, marriages and burials (with some gaps) can be made from copies of the church registers:

  • Baptisms from 1616 to 1963

  • Marriages from 1616 to 1837

  • Burials from 1616 to 1958

Census Transcriptions

Census transcriptions for 1841, 1861, 1871 1891 and 1911 are posted on the GENUKI/Plympton St Maurice pages.

1841 Tithe Apportionments

From the National Archives description: “The original tithe apportionments were created under the Tithe Commutation Act 1836.  Tithe districts were apportioned and mapped, 10,871 in England and 959 in Wales.  The apportionments set out the names of the holders and occupiers of land in each tithe district (usually a parish or township)  the acreage and use of each parcel of land, the amount of rentcharge payable and the names of the tithe owners.  Until 1936, subsequent altered apportionments were laced up with the original apportionments.”

We can look up information on the Tithe Apportionments list and maps although they have not yet been fully transcribed or scanned to this web site

General Lookups

For specific look-ups, researchers should contact the Plympton St. Maurice OPC.

See the Data Source Links under the Links button for sites where significant genealogical data is available for researchers to look up information on their own.
